etude #2

question

Expand the previous material by making a contrasting section, also with eight bars

X:1
T:etude 1.1
K:D
M: 4/4
L:1/8
V:T clef=treble
V:B clef=bass
[V:T] DFB DF B3 | EGB GE B3 | A,CE A,C E3 | A2 F2 D4 |
[V:B] D,8 &\ F,2B,2F,2B,2 | E,8 &\ G,2B,2G,2B,2 | A,,8 &\ C,2E,2C,2E,2 | D,8 &\ F,2A,2F,2A,2 |
[V:T] DFB DF (B1/2C'1/2 B2) | EGB GE (B1/2C'1/2 B2) | A,CE A,C (E1/2F1/2 E2) | A1/2B1/2 G1/2A1/2 (F1/4G1/4F1/2) (G1/4A1/4F1/2) D4 |]
[V:B] D,8 &\ F,2B,2F,2B,2 | E,8 &\ G,2B,2G,2B,2 | A,,8 &\ C,2E,2C,2E,2 | D,8 &\ F,2A,2F,2A,2 |]

Since the first section used a rising motif for 3 bars, then falling for 1, I decided to reverse that for the contrasting section.

X:1
T:3rd four bars
K:D
M: 4/4
L:1/8
B2F2D4 | B2G2E4 | E2C2A,4 | D2F2A4 |

Additionally, I decided that since the first section used shorter notes, the contrasting section would use longer notes.

Though the exercise didn’t require it, I figured it would make sense to do 4 bars, then a variation on the 4 bars again for this exercise.

X:1
T:next four bars
K:D
M: 4/4
L:1/8
BFDF (D1/4F1/4 D7/2) | BGEG (E1/4G1/4 E7/2) | ECA,C (A,1/4C1/4 A,7/2) | D1/2E1/2D1/2C1/2 F1/2G1/2F1/2E1/2 A1/2B1/2A1/2G1/2F1/2G1/2A|]

I feel a little awkward about the length of the final notes here; two dots seems… bad? maybe?

And the completed piece:
